Out tomorrow

It's Vogue Italia's Black issue, only featuring black models. I am glad they came up with this.

those are some pretty fair-skinned black women. where are the naomis, the alek weks or imans out there? it's like whitney winning as a "plus-sized" model on ANTM cycle 9.

I really hope this becomes a trend, I would really enjoy high-end fashion more if it was more diverse!

I find this so interesting... it seems so, SO strange to me that even now, any skin colour other than white is regarded as unusual for the fashion world. I look forward to the day when this isn't even an issue.

I agree, but worry it might just be black-wash. Sigh

t: I think it is just the lighting. Actually it is Naomi on the left, and the issue features both Alek Wek and Iman as well. And Tyra, of course, along with Toccara Jones from (can't remember which season of) ANTM.

ragamala: I hope that designers would start using more diverse models too, and not just when it comes to skin colour. More shapes, more sizes, please! :-)

esme and the lane way: it is bizarre, isn't it. This fall season Jourdan Dunn (one of the cover girls) was the first black model to do the Prada fashion show in 9 years. 9 years! How crazy is that?!

milla: yeah, there is the danger of course, that after this issue comes out, none of the cover girls (apart from Naomi) get any new covers because they already had this one. And if we were talking about white models, this wouldn't be the case, because one cover always leads to more covers...
