I spent a couple of days in the countryside in Pohjanmaa, where my mother and stepfather live. It was beautiful up there, but cold and dark. The sun dropped below the horizon at 2.50 pm.

This is my mother's house.

P.S. In case you are wondering why I am wearing glasses a lot: I was told by my optician that I have been wearing contact lenses too often, and that my eyes need a break.

Great, great photos sweetie (especially the ones of you :). OK, other than THOSE, my favorite are the last two. Wonderful stuff!!!! :) oxox, CR
ps---I wondered at first if the title of the post might be the Finnish word for 'pajama'...please don't tell anywhere there about this!!! (I am SUCH a sad monolingualist :) CR
Wow! What a wonderful place, it's so different from anywhere I've been, your mom house is beautiful, it almost looks like a cottage, do all the house look like that? And ice fishing? I'd love to try that, unfortunately I don't think I'll ever be able here in TX hehe, I'm glad you are keeping warm, I wore contacts for many years until finally I decided to get the Lazik surgery, it was worth it, no more eye-itching because of prolonged wear of contact lenses. =)
I am swooning with delight over these photos, Waves. Your mother's house looks exactly like houses in my books on Scandinavian architecture, which is my favorite. They are very fine photos as well. The blue wall behind you is a particularly fine color.
Lovely winter pictures and nice winter outfit!
Beautiful landscape! It looks cold but the beauty makes up for the coldness. You are lucky to have spent time there and been embraced by the surroundings.
Sooooo beautiful there. Your optician is right young lady! I'm also a contact lens wearer and try to give my eyes a break every few days.
what beautiful photos! wish winter were like that here. we've got the snow, but no sun.
Kauniita maisemia, ja mikä ihanuus tuo talo.

Aaah! I would love to travel to Finland so bad and this makes my longing even worse. It looks so beautiful! I also love the frozen spider webs! How cold is it over there right now? My fellow exchange students from Finland tell me it muse be about -20 degrees. How can you deal? Do you guys ever go out because I'd lock myself in for the entire winter, especially with the sun setting so early hah.
Oh my, its beautiful!! It looks like a winter wonderland...
