The Big Move

It's been a crazy couple of months. In late March (when I was still preoccupied with trousers) Chris and I suddenly stumbled upon an opportunity. No, sadly we didn't win the lottery. It was a work-related occasion which allowed us to sit back and think about life. We have both longed for a certain level of simplicity in our lives for some time: a less of a hectic life, a life where we can set our own pace. After weeks and weeks of all sorts of twists and turns, we have now bought an old farmhouse in Finland. We'll be moving at the end of the summer, cats in tow.

Wow! That is incredible! I hope your new routine will still include blogging. I am looking forward to reading more about life on the farm.

That is so wonderful!! I'm very happy for you both! I think it is lovely and touching that you moved to the US to be with him and now he is moving to Finland with you. (Have you been teaching him Finnish?) I hope that he'll find it relatively easy to acclimate and that together there you'll be able to have the kind of quiet life that might be difficult (or cost-prohibitive? depending where you are) in the US. (I love your vignettes and thoughts about the US from a foreign perspective so I hope you visit now and then lol.) Looking forward to hearing about how country life suits you. Personally, I think you'll love it, and I believe I'll make a similar move someday--though cost may indeed be a factor. (Wish I had extra $$ now to buy an old farm, as this is probably the last time CA countryside will be affordable...!)

Wow!! Congratulations Waves! I had been wondering where you were, I thought maybe you were taking another break, it's so good to hear the good news since I know you missed your family and country. I can't wait to see pictures of your new home. Best wishes!

Congrats on the life altering decision :-)
Most people I talk to dream of simplifying their lives, quiting the hectic job, doing what they love, very few actually go ahead and do it.

Ihana!

I had suspected when I saw the title of your post that you might be planning a move to, say, the Pacific Northwest--but as soon as I saw the picture it was clear where you meant! There is no mistaking the houses of the Scandinavian area.

Congrats and best wishes.
