Our new house, then and now

The above is what our house looked like in 1950... and this is what it looks like today:

Not bad, right? There is a saying in Finnish which goes along the lines of "many cakes are pretty on the outside", and it means that you can´t really trust things just on the basis of their appearance. Sadly the saying holds true when it comes to our house. As pretty as the house looks, the interior is rough. It needs a lot of work. A LOT. But hey, we have apple trees and sort of a lake view!

And we have an adorable, old barn, too.

As you might imagine, things are a little hectic at the moment. I hope to return to regular blogging soon!

It looks awesome! I hope it's an easy fixer-upper on the inside.

Aw, old farmhouses are the best! I lived in a 100 year old one for a few years recently, and it wasn't even pretty on the outside. :) The rough edges start to grow on you a bit though. I miss it. Best wishes on making that your home!

It's nice to have a picture of where you'll be. And that interior roughness? No doubt, it will be the source of lots of shared projects that little by little will make the place your own.

oh my, i love it. it looks perfect for you. and as to fixing up the inside, it's an ongoing process - we've had our place for about 6 years now, and i love this house but we are fixing sh*t up every year. Whether it be bathrooms, leaks, rotten wood, electrics - i still love it, and it just makes it safer and more yours. x

I've been following your blog for quite a while but I don't remember if I've ever spoke up or not.

I love seeing your outfits and reading your thoughts and ponderings on fashion and style. And now I am excited to get a sneak peek into your new home renovating adventures. Looks like a wonderful spot. Best of luck with everything. :)

I’m a bit surprised you still have the photo of your old house. That’s neat! Looking at the pictures, it seems you did a good job on the maintaining and revamping the house. But if the house is having some issues because of its old age, better do some renovations ASAP! Fixing it immediately would help you to keep the house from deteriorating even more. Plus, it would increase the value of your house.
